About Physical Education

The Physical Education staff strives to provide students with the tools to help balance a healthy lifestyle with the demands at MIT. Specifically, our mission is to provide learners with the instruction and skills necessary to lead health active lifestyles, and, to foster both personal growth while developing a sense of community through physical activity.

Establishing healthy habits is especially important during transitional periods of life such as college. Being educated physically, provides the building blocks for living a healthy and more productive life. The importance of physical activity in making students mentally sharper and physically healthier cannot be underestimated. Learning physical skills builds confidence, self-awareness as well as demonstrating principles of physics and biomechanics.

We teach that small changes toward healthy habits have a big impact. Stretch before and after exercising. Consistent activity. Keep hydrated. Make good nutrition choices easy to select. Schedule time for sleep. These messages encourage students to be healthy and productive individuals to ensure they can reach their potential every day at MIT.
